Krank Press – Product Feature & Giveaway!

September 17, 2009

Because I like making things, many of the ideas on The Gifted Blog involve a do-it-yourself component. For example, I enjoy making gift decorations out of garbage.

However, this may not be your idea of a good time. If you’re reading this blog, you likely have an interest in taking your gift wrapping up a notch, and I would love to be of assistance. As I am able, I will feature various gift-wrapping products for those of us who would rather not make them from scratch (and for those of us who just think they’re cool!).

Enter Krank Press. Elinor, printer and proprietor of Krank Press, kindly sent me some letterpressed gift tags and cards when I told her I’d like to write about them. I was pretty excited to see the envelope when it came.

Aren’t they cool? I was drawn to these bright, graphic designs.

A friend told me she was curious to see how I was able to embellish presents during the time I only had kraft paper on hand. If you want to go really simple with your gift wrap, tags like these would give your gifts a little punch. To see more Krank Press tag designs and goods, check out their Etsy store.

Our neighbor lent me her paper punches so I could work on a future Gifted Blog project. Being the thoughtful and artistic person she is, she dropped them off in a cute miniature gift bag. Since this loan is an act that merits thanks, but perhaps not a whole thank you card, I am giving back the bag like this:

Perfect occasion to try out a tag!

Finally, I’d like to announce The Gifted Blog’s first giveaway! To enter, leave a comment before 8pm Friday (PST) telling me the last gift you gave someone and how you wrapped it.

I will pick a random number. The lucky winner with the corresponding comment will get Krank Press’ exclamation mark gift tags and patterned gift tags with envelopes!

Good luck!

The last gift i gave was something i found at Daiso! it was a ‘portable ashtray’ – a fist sized metal lined plastic receptacle that one wears around their neck on a cord.
Embarrassingly, i don’t think i wrapped it. I usually make do with whatever newspaper or hand-me-down bags I have around the house, though I will call upon a bag of old cards and stickers to liven things up when i can.

okay, I didn’t actually wrap this gift, but my department chipped in to buy a bridal shower gift for the children’s librarian. The shower was holiday themed. So some people in my department bought a plastic Halloween cauldron and filled it with presents. They then topped the cauldron with an outrageous witches hat! It looked great at the party, and she didn’t have any paper to crumple up and throw away after opening it.

yay, a giveaway! i have to say my last gift was a very lamely wrapped gift. My friend was over and I forgot to wrap her book so I stuck it in a bag that was hanging on our bag rack–a red and black vinyl tote back with some white marketing slogan on it (like AIG Insurance–you get the idea). It worked but I realized, giftwrapping is important even if the gift is super cool.

The last gift I got was a bag made by my Mom’s ministry (you would think these were pretty cool Charissa!). I gave it to Sarah (my fiance) for her birthday. The bag was great, but I had to wrap it so I just went out to Target and got some standard wrapping paper and ribbon. I was mildly impressed I still knew how to curl ribbon… but it was overall a pretty average job! ;)

Thanks for the all the creative ideas Charissa!

    Hi Charissa!
The last gift I got someone was a little baby outfit for my cousin, who’s expecting. Appropriately, it had little bunny ears on the hat and socks components. =) Eddie and I just rummaged around for the $1 gift wrap and gift bag at Target (which was a pretty hip shade of turquoise, I think) and I wrapped it in the car while Eddie drove to her house. We’re very last minute when it comes to gift wrap, hopefully your blog will inspire me to be less lazy in this area. ;)

The last gift I gave was to my friend for her new baby. I used plain brown gift bag and put very colorful aqua tissue paper in it. I think that’s one of my fav’s actually is the plain-jane brown bag look with colorful details.
